Culture & Spinach Soup

Have you ever had spinach soup and popcorn? As odd as it sounds and strange as it looks, I was surprised to find that it actually tasted really good.

I have traveled to all the inhabited continents in the world (minus Australia, but who counts them anyway?), yet I never lose fascination in the diversity found in the cultures of the world. This woman, our host mom, is so precious and graciously accepts our "strange" American habits while attempting to introduce us to the Ecuadorian ways. Like eating spinach soup with popcorn. And learning how to deal with the unpredictable mountainous weather that we daily experience in this little valley:

I will write about our weekend adventures soon, but for now I will leave you with one more unique aspect of this city, which we found while visiting the Equator: pay for your toilet paper or don't use any at all. Too bad I learned my lesson in Indonesia and bring tissues everywhere I go :)

Weekend adventures are soon to come! But school is tomorrow, and so I sleep.
