Worship (Day 5): True and Proper

If you're reading my 31-day series on Worship for the first time, consider clicking over here to my Day 1 post to see the introduction and to find the rest of the posts in the series!

One last time, before we get into the nitty-gritty of worshiping in the everyday:

What is worship, really? What's the true and proper way to worship?
"Offer your bodies as living sacrifice, holy & pleasing to God-- this is your true & proper worship." -Romans 12:1
Worship is a mirror, reflecting truths about God. But more than that, to worship is to prize Christ. And we prize Christ in worship by sacrificing ourselves as holy and pleasing to God.

Holy & pleasing. Let Him be pleased with your actions, thoughts, and words. And when you mess up? Offer your body in renewal, rejoicing in the truth that Jesus has saved us from every displeasing action, thought, or word that ever has been and ever will be. What a joy to know that worship isn't as complicated as we think: it's simply the act of living daily as a Christ-follower!

"Let the renewal you are working from within show from the outside. This is my spiritual worship. To show the world that You are my all-satisfying treasure." -Piper, "All of Life as Worship"
Have you sought to live differently from the rest of the world today because you follow Jesus? Consider it worship. Have you readjusted your actions, thoughts, or words today, moving them along as sails in a storm when you recognize them as being rooted in sin? Consider it worship. Have you done or said something today specifically in obedience to Christ's commands? Consider it worship!

Carry on, fellow believers. Offer and treasure, for it is true and proper worship!
